DFS use keeps going up
In general, the respondents are using DFS more and more: 94% says they use DFS sometimes, often, or very often.
This combined percentage is even higher for males (94.4%) and the treatment group (96.5%).
Still, 38% of the respondents say they only use DFS 'Sometimes'.

This graph hasn't changed a lot over the last few interviews. M-Pesa is used most often, but Okoa Jahazi is close.
DFS Balances
When we look at the balance of what respondents have borrowed and saved in their DFS accounts (not including airtime), we see interesting differences between the groups and gender.
The treatment group has a higher balance than the control group, and males have a higher balance than females. For interview 4 this was exactly the other way around, so we think that this metric is just very volatile. It could very well be that what people save and loan in between each interview varies wildly.

Questions about learning
When asked about what the respondents learned about DFS, most said they didn't learn anything new, or learned about a specific DFS.
When asked what they learned about saving/spending, most respondents said they didn't learn anything new. They also said they learned about saving in general, and that the more they save, the more they can loan.
Most respondents report having no trouble with DFS, but a small percentage cites Network problems / delays.
When asked what they'd like to learn, many respondents say they would like to learn about another DFS than the one they're using.
These questions are very general, so please have a look at the tables that show a selection of the other answers given to these questions about learning.
There was no big difference between the groups or genders for these questions.

As you might expect, people save for many reasons. The table on the left shows a selection that shows people take a loan for pay for school, bike trouble, general upkeep, expanding businesses, buying sporting clothes, and getting sick.
The answers to this question were too diverse to code (as opposed to the next question about reasons for saving).
Why do you save in Digital Financial Services, what are your goals?
The piecharts below show the reasons people have to save, broken down in the groups and genders.
Over a third of the respondents mention that they save in DFS because it actually increases their chances of getting a loan, or that it increases their loan limit.

Perceived gender differences
Men - DFS22: Rate the following statement: Women save more than men
Rate the following statement: Women save more than men
Perhaps not surprisingly, they way respondents answer this question differs greatly by gender. Women are much more likely to agree with this statement than men. When asked why, we see reasons along the lines of 'women are in chamas, to which they have to contribute', 'men need to spend more, so it's easier to save for women', and 'men are spenders unlike women'.
Women - DFS22: Rate the following statement: Women save more than men

Men - DFS24: Rate the following statement: Men borrow more than women

For this other statement about gender differences, men and women also answer differently. Both genders disagree, but men more so than women. The percentage of men that agree and agree strongly is higher than the percentage of women.
Female - DFS24: Rate the following statement: Men borrow more than women
